John WilliamsJohn A. Williams, Chairman

Chairman of the HCIS and CSI Boards of Directors, Mr. Williams, the founder and a principal stockholder of CSI, has served as CSI's Chairman of the Board since 1999 and HCIS's Chairman of the Board since August 2006. He previously served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of CSI from 1981 to 1999. He also has been a director of CSI since 1965. He previously served as President of CSI from 1969 to 1981 and as Executive Director of CSI until 1969. He served as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Louisville Branch for three years and was a member of the Board for seven years.

He is a founder and former president of the Association of Financial Technology (AFT) and
a former chairman of CUBE (The Burroughs Computer Users).  

In January 2004, John was named Distinguished Citizen by the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce for his civic work, notably in leading a campaign that raised more than $16 million for the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center for the Performing Arts where he currently serves as chairman.

Several Kentucky governors have appointed him to serve on Governors' Commissions on subjects ranging from Economic Development to Science & Technology.

In February 2006, he received the 2006 Governor’s Technology Award that honored him as the Kentucky individual who most deserved to be recognized as a leader in technology innovation.

In April 2006, Williams became the first-ever recipient of the Entrepreneurship Award from Murray State University’s Telecommunications Systems Management Department. He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky.


 

Steven. A. Powless, CEO

Elected to the Heartland Board in March 2005, Steve Powless was appointed President & CEO of Heartland in March of 2008. Mr. Powless joined CSI in 1987 as Vice President of Corporate Development. He was named Executive Vice President of CSI in 1989 and elected to the CSI Board of Directors in 1992. In 1993 he was named President and COO and became President and CEO in 1999, only the second person in CSI history to hold that position.

He is a board member of ConnectKentucky, a state-wide initiative to establish broadband communications throughout the Commonwealth; a director of Western Regional Center for Emerging Technologies in Kentucky; and serves as a member of the CEO's Roundtable Group, a state-wide initiative of Kentucky business leaders. Mr. Powless is past president and director of the Association of Financial Technology (AFT), and past member of the Paducah Public Library Board of Trustees, past director and Treasurer of the Greater Economic Development Council and past director of the West Kentucky Technical College Foundation.

He is a graduate of Leadership Paducah, Leadership Kentucky and Murray State University.


 

David SimonDavid Simon, Treasurer & CFO

Mr. Simon was appointed by the HCIS Board to serve as its Treasurer & CFO in November 2006. He also serves as CSI's Treasurer and CFO, having held that position since joining CSI in 1995. He is responsible for setting company financial strategies and policies.

He is also a director and Treasurer of the Greater Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce, a trustee of the United Way of Paducah-McCracken County, Inc. Endowment Trust and past president and director of the St. Nicholas Family Free Clinic, and a graduate of Leadership Paducah. He holds a BA degree from the University of Louisville and an MBA degree from the University of Kentucky.


Brian Glover

Brian Glover, General Manager

Having been part of Heartland since 2005, Mr. Glover has proven to be a valuable asset to
the company in the focus of day-to-day operations, as well as progressive understanding
and knowledge in the CLEC telephony market.  Mr. Glover ’s conscious efforts to operate a customer oriented, and well rounded technical support staff, as well as his ability to
understand the financial aspects of the company make him an ideal candidate for
management of large-scale projects and office personnel.  Today he manages both our HCIS and our phone company, Aero Communications.

Brian Glover graduated in 1999 with a Master's of Arts and Religion from Liberty University located in Lynchberg, Virginia.


Vincent Woeltz, Affiliate Affairs

Vincent Woeltz

Customer Services and Affiliate Affairs.  Mr. Woeltz, has been involved with the
development and economic affairs of our company since 2005. Having worked 18+ years
as a senior field engineer for Activant in Indianapolis, Indiana prior to coming on board
with Heartland has given him a strong background and expertise in the Internet and Communications area. Coupled with his ability to understand political circumstances throughout the communications world, makes him a valuable asset to our company. 
He also leads the continued development of our wholesale affiliate program.

Vincent Woeltz graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor's of Science in Electronics Management from Southern Illinois University located in Carbondale, Illinois.

Tammy SouderTammy Souder, Secretary

Tammy Souder, a CSI employee since June 1992, was named Corporate Secretary in 1998 for CSI and Vice President, Corporate Administration, in July 2005. She also serves as Administrative Assistant to CSI President and CEO, Steven A. Powless. Souder was named Corporate Secretary for HCIS in 2006.
